Privacy Policy
RouteFM is a file manager for Mac, iPhone and iPad, made by Redsoft. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: we don’t collect any data. RouteFM has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it doesn’t send anything to us.
Your files stay on your devices
RouteFM works with files on your devices and on servers you connect to. It reads and changes them only when you ask it to, and only in folders you give it access to. Files you delete go to the Trash (or RouteFM’s own trash, where a volume has none), so you can undo.
AI features
RouteFM can turn a request such as “move the screenshots into a folder by month” into a plan of file operations. The AI never changes files itself: you review the plan and confirm it first. Which service does the planning is your choice in Settings › AI.
- Apple Intelligence runs entirely on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Claude (Anthropic), OpenAI, or another service you enter. When you use an AI command, RouteFM sends your request together with the names, sizes, types and dates of the items in the folder you’re working in, directly from your device to that service, using your own API key. The contents of your files are not sent. That service’s own privacy policy applies to what it receives; Redsoft never sees it.
Finding similar photos uses Apple’s Vision framework on your Mac. Images are compared on the device and never uploaded.
Passwords and keys
API keys, server passwords and your Mac login password (used only if you choose to run the terminal on this Mac over Remote Login) are stored in your device’s Keychain. They are sent only to the service or server they belong to.
Servers
When you add an SFTP, WebDAV or S3 server, RouteFM connects directly from your device to that server. Server addresses and settings are stored on your device.
iPhone and Mac connection
You can connect an iPhone to your Mac with a cable, or wirelessly by turning on Mac Access in RouteFM on the iPhone.
- Wireless access works only between devices signed in to the same Apple Account. A random pairing key is kept in your iCloud key-value storage so your own devices can recognise each other.
- Photos and videos travel directly between your devices over your local network, encrypted (TLS).
- RouteFM on iPhone asks for access to your photo library only so it can show and send your photos and videos to your Mac while Mac Access is on.
Purchases
Any purchases or subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We don’t receive your payment details.
Crash reports
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports. They help us fix bugs and don’t identify you.
Children
RouteFM doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
